For Wave
Wave knows the invoice. DueDrop knows the conversation.
Keep Wave as your source of truth. DueDrop reads the email thread you already have with each client, drafts the next overdue-invoice follow-up in your voice, and pauses the moment the client replies.
It starts in review mode, so nothing sends until you approve it.

Invoice #2847 · Northlane Design
Wave knows
$2,400.00 · 14 days overdue
Your inbox knows
“Hey — sorry, this one's on me. Check goes out Friday.”
DueDrop uses both. So nothing goes out on Thursday.
Wave already has invoice reminders.
Wave can schedule payment reminders for 3, 7 and 14 days after an invoice becomes due — though reminders need either Wave Pro or Wave online payments, and editing the reminder message requires the Pro plan. If a scheduled message you write once is all you need, use the feature you already pay for — this page isn't trying to sell you a second copy of it.
DueDrop adds the part Wave doesn't have: the conversation happening in your inbox.
- which invoice is overdue
- who owes it and how much
- when it was due
- when it gets paid
- how you normally talk to this client
- what the existing conversation sounds like
- where the conversation left off
- whether the client has already replied
- The schedule is fixed at 3, 7 and 14 days after due — you work around it rather than with it.
- Customising the message at all requires the Pro plan.
- Whatever you write goes to every client in the same words.
- It stops when the invoice is marked paid — not when the client replies to say payment is on the way.
No template required.
Instead of asking you to write the perfect overdue-invoice email once and reuse it forever, DueDrop reads the existing thread with that client and drafts the next message.
Hi Marcus,
This is a reminder that invoice #2847 is overdue. Please submit payment at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.
Hey Marcus,
Just wanted to circle back on the March invoice and make sure it didn't get buried. Let me know if you need anything resent on my end.
Thanks,
Sarah
When your client answers, the follow-ups stop.
Wave knows whether an invoice has been paid. DueDrop also knows whether the conversation has changed. If your client replies “payment is going out Friday”, the cadence for that invoice pauses automatically — even though the invoice still reads overdue in Wave.
No automated follow-up landing after your client has already answered you.
Wave stays the source of truth.
Connect Wave and DueDrop reads the invoice information it needs — invoices, customers, due dates and payment status. The connection is read-only; we never create, modify or delete anything in your account.
Then connect your mailbox so DueDrop can draft from your existing client threads and send approved follow-ups from your own address. Your first messages stay in review mode until you approve them, and you can revoke either connection at any time.

Questions before you connect anything.
How is this different from Wave's own payment reminders? +
Wave sends the message you configured on a fixed 3/7/14-day schedule, and editing that message needs the Pro plan. DueDrop writes each follow-up from the actual email thread with that client, sends it from your own inbox, and pauses the moment they reply rather than waiting for the invoice to be marked paid.
Should I turn off the Wave reminders? +
For the clients you hand to DueDrop, yes — otherwise the same person gets nudged twice about one invoice. You'll find the setting in your Wave invoice settings.
Do I need Wave Pro to use DueDrop? +
No. DueDrop works with Wave's free invoicing as well as Wave Pro. Beyond your DueDrop subscription there's nothing else to buy.
How quickly does DueDrop notice a payment? +
Wave doesn't offer webhooks, so DueDrop polls your account on a regular cadence rather than listening for real-time events. A payment or a new invoice can take a few minutes to register rather than seconds. For follow-up timing that makes no practical difference — we're still reacting hours before a human would — but we'd rather be upfront than overstate it.
Does DueDrop change anything in my Wave account? +
No. The connection is read-only. DueDrop reads invoice status and customer details, and never creates, modifies or deletes anything. When a client pays through Wave Payments we only see that the invoice is now paid — never card or payment details.
What does DueDrop need from my email? +
Enough to read the prior thread with the clients you invoice — that is what each draft is written from — to send approved follow-ups through your mailbox, and to notice replies so it knows when to stop. It is OAuth throughout, so we never see your password, and you can revoke access at any time from your DueDrop account or directly in Google or Microsoft.
